What if I have never attended a PTA convention before? First-time attendees are especially welcome! The convention is designed to be accessible and valuable for everyone, regardless of their level of experience with PTA. There will be sessions specifically aimed at new PTA leaders and plenty of opportunities to learn from experienced mentors. Plus, Torrance Council of PTAs Convention Committee will host a pre-Convention orientation and will be on-site to help gather the Torrance units together.
What is the recommended dress attire for the convention?The recommended dress attire for the convention is casual. We encourage attendees to dress comfortably. Consider layers to accommodate varying room temperatures. Pack a nice outfit or two! If you're planning on joining the California State PTA dinner, plan for casual evening wear. The Thirty-Third District PTA event will be casual.
Is there a per diem available for meals and expenses? Your unit may choose to support their representatives' expenses. We recommend checking with your local PTA board regarding any available financial support for meals and other expenses during the convention.
What expenses are eligible for reimbursement when attending the convention? Your unit typically reimburses expenses that are considered essential for participation. These may include: Registration fees for the convention. Lodging costs for the duration of the convention, based on standard accommodation rates. Travel expenses, such as airfare or mileage, according to the current standard mileage rate, provided the travel is necessary to attend the convention. Please note, personal expenses such as entertainment or purchases of promotional items like council shirts are not eligible for reimbursement. Attendees are encouraged to review the specific reimbursement policy provided by their local PTA or council for detailed information, as policies may vary.
